New York Fashion Week Recap

New York Fashion Week. What a whirlwind. This was my first time attending, and I can't explain how much excitement I had to attend this year. Each day was filled with yummy food, shows, events, parties, and visiting some of my favorite brands.

Throughout the week, I got to stay with Dream Downtown, which is a gorgeous hotel in the heart of the Meatpacking District and a block away from Chelsea Market. The hotel was filled with friendly service, good views from the rooftop, comfortable beds, and rooms with modern and chic style. Thank you Dream Downtown for having Mel and I stay with you!

If I could describe fashion week in one word, it would be inspiring. I believe fashion is a way to express who you are and your personality. Fashion is endless. Being able to be surrounded by so many talented designers, bloggers, photographers, and so many people in the industry was inspiring. One thing that I could take from this whole week is that it's not just about the bloggers, fame, who you are, who you meet, and what party you got invited to. It's all about the designers, and what they're creating. It's about how the designers are truly expressing themselves in the pieces they're creating, which is a form of art that everyone can witness. Fashion week is not only about bloggers and attending shows, but it's also celebrating how people come together to witness and experience something they all have in common. Sure, you get your photo taken because your outfit looks cool. But, the designers are the ones who created those pieces. And it's amazing to see how many people come together to spread the word and share their own take on how they can wear them. There were moments where I would be at some party, standing over and looking out into the New York City skyline, and truly be amazed and thankful that I get to be a part of this industry. A part of something that's unstoppable and so powerful.

All I can say is that fashion week is something to experience for yourself and I had no idea or expectations for the week. All I know is that it was unforgettable, blew my expectations, and I can't wait for the next one.
