A couple months ago I was going through old photo albums and home videos with my family, and was having a blast reminiscing. One of the things I love looking at of course, is the fashion. I also really love the style and the look of portraits and memories documented on film. These photos aren’t shot on film, but I recently picked up my dad’s old Canon Elan II film camera, and I can’t wait to share more images shot on that camera body. It’s such a fun film camera, and I’m definitely going to be shooting with it more often.
Because of going through those old memories, I’ve been into 80’s and 90’s fashion. Turtleneck sweatshirts, flannels, baggier style denim, and of course t-shirts from the era. I was born in 1991, right at the beginning of all the 90’s style. I know that 80’s and 90’s style has been filtering through different seasons of fashion, and has been making its way back into today’s culture, but I kind of hit a wall and wanted to try wearing some different pieces from that era. Every couple years I go through closet purges and get rid of all the pieces I don’t wear anymore, which of course then makes room for more clothing. When I thrift I do look for luxury pieces, but I’ve also been into trying on some “new” styles from thirty years ago. I’m really into mixing those pieces with newer current trends. It just adds such a unique look to your current outfit. And not to mention, you have a different piece of clothing that no one else is wearing.
For this look I’m wearing a mens denim jacket by mnml, some sunnies by Quay, a turtleneck sweatshirt from 1991 that I thrifted, some 3x1 distressed denim, a pair of corduroy boots by Band of Gypsies, and my favorite Alexander Wang bag. I love all the textures and colors of this outfit, and let’s just say that I’ve repeated this outfit a couple times. Make sure to shop the look below!
