For this month, I wanted to start it off by sharing some photos that are little different than what I normally share. Recently, I’ve been inspired by different lighting. I love shooting outdoors and using natural light of course, but there’s something so fun about using artificial light. It gives such a different feel and there’s so much to play with when it comes to flash. I used to use flash way back in the day when I first started taking photos, and I wanted to try it out again. I’m honestly not as comfortable as I used to be and I’m definitely a little rusty when it comes to using flash. But it’s something that I want to get better at for future shoots. So this mini shoot in my bathroom was a trial (and had some errors haha), but it’s fun to try something new. I’m definitely going to bust out the flash more in 2019 for other shoots (even for my photo work)!
All of these photos were shot on a tripod and a remote (gotta love technology). I honestly felt a bit weird and felt like a crazy person taking photos of myself in the dark, with no one around (haha). But I had fun doing it.
PHOTO HACK: For this bottom photo, I used blue and pink foil wrapping paper to get this effect. I taped two pieces of the paper around the flash, and it gave a neon light effect. A little hack if you don’t have any colored lights laying around.
Also, since it’s the first day of the month, I wanted to share with you my monthly favorites playlist on Spotify. It’s a curated list of my favorite tunes for the month and it’s updated all the time!
